Established in 1977, the HKEAA administers a wide range of public examinations and assessments, as well as international and professional examinations.

HKCEE: Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination
HKALE: Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination
HKDSE: Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination
LPAT: Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers [LPAT has been renamed as 'Language Proficiency Assessment (LPA)' since September 2023]
TSA: Territory-wide System Assessment (TSA 2020, 2021 and 2022 were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ‘Gainful Use of TSA materials’ arrangement were in place where schools' participation was voluntarily.)
