With decades of experience in organising public examinations and assessments, the HKEAA leverages its expertise and assessment data to foster collaborations with local and international institutes in assessment research and development. We also develop online assessment and feedback platforms for the education sector to enhance assessment literacy, with a view to fostering the vision of ‘Assessment for Learning’.
International and Local Assessment Research
The HKEAA has been commissioned by the Education Bureau to conduct the 2026 Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) project in Hong Kong. The PIRLS collects reading behavior and related data from 40 to 60 countries and regions worldwide, analysing students' reading ability in their mother tongue. The international comparative data on the reading levels of children will be used to formulate effective teaching and learning methods to improve students’ reading ability.
The HKEAA also conducts research on examinations and assessment and collaborates with local and international universities to provide consultancy services, with the aim of reviewing and enhancing the quality of various examinations and assessments.
Enhancing Assessment Literacy
The HKEAA makes use of its abundant assessment data to develop various online assessment and feedback platforms, including the HKDSE Diagnostic Feedback System (DFS), Assessment Quality-assurance Platform (AQP), etc. We also organise assessment literacy training courses and the Quality Assessment Management Accreditation Scheme (QAMAS), helping schools enhance their assessment literacy.
