New updates on examination arrangement

13 June 2025 - The admission tickets for the HKCDAA examinations (for 28 June 2025) have been sent to candidates by email (Email sender name: no-reply-ie3@hkeaa.edu.hk). Candidates who have not yet received their admission ticket at this moment must contact the HKEAA immediately for further assistance (Email: ie@hkeaa.edu.hk, Phone: 36288787).

 

Introduction

 

The Hong Kong Chartered Digital Asset Analyst Exam (HKCDAA) is a professional certification designed to elevate the professional standards of individuals in the field of digital assets, enabling them to become Chartered Digital Asset Professionals.

The HKCDAA certification system consists of three levels, and candidates must take the examinations progressively. The specific requirements are as follows:

Examinations must be passed sequentially from Level 1 to Level 3. Candidates can only apply for Level 2 after passing Level 1, and Level 3 after passing Level 2. Different levels focus on distinct learning objectives:

- Level 1 examination emphasizes mastering learning content prefixed with "Know"

- Level 2 examination focuses on testing abilities related to "Understand" and "Apply"

- Level 3 examination primarily assesses professional skills in "Identify" and "Calculate"

Currently only Level 1 examination is available. Level 2 and Level 3 examinations will be launched successively.

 

Hong Kong Chartered Digital Asset Analyst Level 1 (Mastering Fundamental Knowledge and Concepts)

 

Objective: By establishing a solid foundation in basic knowledge and market concepts of digital assets, this program aims to comprehensively understand the core components of the industry, laying a solid foundation for further in-depth study.

Assessment Focus:

1. Mastery of the core terminology, basic theories, and key components of the market in the digital asset industry.

2. In-depth understanding of the fundamentals of digital assets and their technological framework, including key technologies such as blockchain and consensus mechanisms.

3. Be acquainted with the main types of global digital assets and derivative investment products, as well as the core investment research logic.

4. Familiar with the trading rules and operation process of digital asset investment, and master the commonly used tools and methods in investment practice.

5. Gain a basic understanding of the professional ethics and basic compliance requirements for digital asset analysts.

 

Hong Kong Chartered Digital Asset Analyst Level 2 (Equipped with Analysis and Application Capabilities)

 

Objective: To cultivate analysts with a comprehensive strategic perspective and practical experience, capable of providing clients with digital asset consulting services and investment advice.

Assessment Focus:

1. Master the Web3.0 business model and analyse its investment opportunities and risks.

2. Master the principles of digital asset valuation and be familiar with blockchain data analysis methods.

3. Understand the pricing model of digital asset derivatives, understand the common strategies of digital asset quantification and structured financial products.

4. Master digital asset allocation strategies and develop professional investment programmes.

5. Design customised digital asset management solutions in conjunction with client needs.

6. Understand and comply with digital asset regulatory requirements, and deeply adhere to ethical standards and professional codes  of conduct.

 

Hong Kong Chartered Digital Asset Analyst Level 3 (Developing Advanced Strategies and Integrated Practices)

 

Objective: To develop senior analysts who are able to formulate global digital asset allocation plans at macro and strategic levels, with very high ethical standards, industry leadership and social influence, to provide clients or institutions with sustainable and high-level overall strategic plans.

Assessment Focus:

1. Integrate judgment of the bull and bear cycles in the digital asset market and investment opportunities, construct forward-looking market strategies based on macroeconomic and policy environments, and timely adjust investment directions by perceiving market opportunities.

2. Proactively judge market and technological development trends, and continuously unearth high-potential digital asset projects.

3. Proficiently master various on-chain and off-chain digital asset trading tools and derivatives, and comprehensively formulate digital asset allocation plans and trading strategies.

Registration Procedure and Entry Requirements

Hong Kong Chartered Digital Asset Analyst (HKCDAA) examination is held bi-monthly, and candidates can choose the most suitable date on the official website.

Registration Procedure

1. Create a Hong Kong Chartered Digital Asset Analyst Account.

2. When registering for an account, you need to provide: name, passport (for mainland China or overseas) or Hong Kong ID card (for Hong Kong residents), phone number and email address.

3. Educational information: name of school, qualifications and degrees, major, year of graduation.

4. Employment information: proof of employment, with emphasis on whether or not you have digital asset-related work experience.

5. Statement on whether you are studying: if you are a student, select the expected date of graduation and upload proof of study.

6. Select the examination date.

7. Qualification review to confirm eligibility for registration.

8. Candidates pay the examination fee.

9. Examination notices are distributed.

 

Entry Requirments (Level 1)

1. Age requirement: 18 years old or above.

2. Complete registration, application, and payment of fees.

3. A working person satisfies either of the two:

  • Education qualification: For Hong Kong or overseas residents, completion of an associate degree program or possession of a bachelor's degree or above; for Mainland China residents, possession of a junior college degree or above.
  • Work experience:

            - Over 3 years of work experience, regardless of industry.

            - Over 2 years of work experience in finance, accountingm or IT-related industries.

            - Over 1 year of work experience related to digital assets.

4. For students currently enrolled, those pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher with no more than 24 months remaining until  graduation.
