2025 HKDSE Results to be Released in Mid-July

Following the completion of all the subjects of the 2025 Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE), we have appointed about 4,450 markers and 450 marking assistants to mark a total of 652,000 HKDSE answer scripts. The marking and grading processes are being conducted smoothly, with the examination results for 55,000 candidates scheduled for release on 16 July 2025.

New arrangements for Category C Other Language subjects (French, German, Japanese, Korean and Spanish) are adopted for the 2025 HKDSE Examination and onwards, to promote diversified learning for students and facilitate flexible career planning. Candidates who took the stipulated language examinations administered by the respective official organisations in Hong Kong and obtained the stipulated examination grades or language proficiency levels or above can have the results reported on their HKDSE certificates. The Government welcomed these new examination arrangements and announced that the new Category C results are accepted for the purpose of civil service appointments (non-degree civil service grades).

Providing Teaching Support to Enhance Assessment Literacy

The HKEAA utilises its extensive assessment data to develop various online assessment and feedback platforms, including the HKDSE Diagnostic Feedback System (DFS) and the Assessment Quality Assurance Platform (AQP). We also organise assessment literacy training courses and the Quality Assessment Management Accreditation Scheme (QAMAS), helping schools enhance their assessment literacy.

In early June 2025, Prof Wei Xiang-dong, Secretary General and Prof Ricardo Mak, Director of Public Examinations, met with the principal and 30 senior teaching staff of Elegantia College to share the latest developments of the HKEAA’s global assessment and learning initiatives and exchanged ideas regarding the use of digital assessment tools developed by the HKEAA for the school sector. During the demonstration session, the use of examination big data, as well as the DFS and the Data-driven Assessment Enhancement Programme, were also discussed.

Throughout the years, the HKEAA has leveraged its expertise and assessment data to foster collaborations with the education sector. For details, please visit the HKEAA website.

Computer-based Examinations for the HKICPA’s Qualification Programme

In late May 2025, the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and the HKEAA launched the first round of Computer-based Examinations (CBE) for the HKICPA’s Qualification Programme (QP) for a candidature of around 170 at one of the HKEAA Assessment Centres.

This strategic move has provided the QP students with a paperless, secure and fully digitalised assessment experience, making the examination process more dynamic and efficient while enhancing accessibility and contributing to environmental sustainability.

With a longstanding partnership with the HKICPA in delivering professional qualification examinations, the HKEAA brings a wealth of experience and expertise in administering CBEs to ensure a seamless and efficient candidate experience. The HKEAA is committed to providing advanced digital assessment platforms and establishing comprehensive and suitable operational arrangements for the CBE, ensuring alignments with the QP’s assessment requirements and providing all candidates with professional, equitable and reliable assessment services.

Prof Wei Xiang-dong, Secretary General of the HKEAA, said, ‘As part of the Digital Assessment Initiative, we aim to broaden the scope of our digital assessment services. Looking ahead, we will continue to allocate resources strategically to enhance related hardware infrastructure and facilities, as well as to develop talent, ensuring the excellence and competitiveness of our international and professional examinations.’
