Registration for the 2019 HKDSE

Following the registration for Category C subjects in the 2019 Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) in June this year, registration for Category A and B subjects began on 12 September 2018.

Each year tens of thousands of Secondary 6 students take the examinations from February to June upon completion of a three-year senior secondary curriculum. The vast majority of HKDSE candidates register for six subjects. Eligible school candidates sitting the 2019 HKDSE will benefit from a one-off examination fees waiver as a result of a special government funding approved by the Legislative Council.

Those who meet the following requirements may register for the 2019 HKDSE as private candidates:
 • Sat the previous HKDSE or an equivalent examination, or
 • Reached the age of 19 by 1 January 2019, or
 • Completed or is currently pursuing a non-HKDSE curriculum equivalent
   to Secondary 6 in 2018/2019.

High turnout for Information seminars

Over 670 parents of secondary school students attended the information seminars conducted by the HKEAA to learn more about the development of the HKDSE and a number of international examinations that can be taken to meet various pathway requirements.

With the theme Myths and Facts of Examinations, the seminars held on 11 August and 15 September 2018 served to improve parents’ understanding about various examination and assessment services for students. The HKEAA has received positive feedback from parents who showed appreciation for the Authority’s efforts in promoting assessment literacy.
