  "Online Question Bank" expanded

The “Online Question Bank (HKCEE)”, co-organized by the HKEAA and the Hong Kong Education City, has been widely accepted by teachers and students. Service provision of the platform has been further enhanced in this academic year. In addition to the publishing of 15 years of CE Mathematics Paper II MC questions, MC questions of other subjects from 2005 to 2010, including Economics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and the new Combined Science, are also covered in the data bank this year, with the question pool containing up to 4,000 items.

The platform has also been enhanced with new features including assigning examination paper to different target groups and exchanging assessment reports among teachers to allow teachers in the same schools to discuss and use the assessment reports for setting suitable teaching and learning plans and to provide more support to students in mastering the curriculum. In addition, teachers can select assessment papers suitable for students’ levels to cater for students’ diverse rates of learning progress. Detailed assessment reports will also be provided for teachers and students after completing test to help them gain an idea of learning progress and thus improve teaching and learning.

Schools and parents interested in this service may visit http://www.hkedcity.net/proj/QuestionBank/ to download the application form or contact the HK EdCity at 2624 1063 if they have queries.
Registration for Assessment Literacy Training available now

To facilitate the smooth implementation of assessment for the HKDSE, the HKEAA launched an Assessment Literacy Training programme during the past academic year. Professional training on the basic principles and applications of assessment and testing for around one thousand secondary school teachers was provided through the programme.

Participating teachers found the programme was well structured to meet their needs. With their enhanced understanding of the assessment of New Senior Structure (NSS) subjects, they were able to better prepare for conducting School-based Assessment.

We will continue to conduct the training programme this academic year and invitations to enroll have been sent to teachers in September. It is anticipated that around 2,000 teachers will benefite from this programme. A certificate of attendance will be awarded to those who have successfully completed the training.

Teachers who are interested in enrolling on this training programme, please click here for registration. Teachers are also welcome to contact their own schools or our assessment development office on
3628 8070 for further details.
QAMAS to promote Assessment for Learning

The Quality Assessment Management Accreditation Scheme (QAMAS) was introduced in 2007 with the aim of enhancing the quality and standards of examination and assessment management in schools. Recognition is awarded for the professionalism of participating schools with in capacity to provide quality examinations and assessment management. Since the launch of this scheme, 26 primary and secondary schools have been accredited.

Three main aspects of the participating schools are assessed under this scheme, including their assessment management, training and development activities, experiences of examination personnel at schools and the physical provision of examination venues.

Under this scheme, accredited schools are highly recognized as role models for providing students with fair, reliable and valid examinations and assessment. Participating schools also appreciate that this scheme can make them literate in examination administration and assessment practices and subsequently help them to promote the culture of "Assessment for Learning" .

The Certificate Presentation Ceremony and Experience Sharing Session this year will be held on the morning of 9 October 2010. Interested schools are welcome to join. If you would like to learn more about the scheme or the Experience Sharing Session, please contact us at 3628 8881 or by email: ptang@hkeaa.edu.hk .
