Appointment of new Secretary General

The HKEAA announced the appointment of Dr So Kwok-sang as Secretary General with effect from 1 September 2017. He will succeed Dr Tong Chong-sze who has led the HKEAA for six years.

At a media briefing held last month, Mr Rock Chen Chung-nin, Chairman of the HKEAA and Dr So shared their visions for the future development of the Authority. Mr Chan also applauded the leadership and contributions towards the development and the growing recognition of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) by Dr Tong Chong-sze.

Currently the Academic Registrar of Hong Kong Baptist University, Dr So has a long and distinguished career in education with profound knowledge of assessment. He has previously served different HKEAA committees including the Public Examinations Board, the Standards Committee, as well as the Appeal Review Committee, and his dedication and commitment to the development of education services in Hong Kong has been highly valued.

HKEAA will continue to work closely with the education community under Dr So´s leadership with a view to deliver reliable, robust and rigorous public examination and educational assessment services in Hong Kong.

2017 HKDSE Results to be released in July

The HKDSE for nearly 62,000 candidates finished last month and the results will be released on 12 July 2017.

During the marking period, a total of 14 assessment centres, including five full-scale assessment centres and nine on-campus assessment centres are open mostly from 10:30am to 10:30pm to enable teachers to take part in marking after class.

With some 1,300 workstations operating in full swing more than 820,000 HKDSE scripts were marked onscreen. Around 4,200 markers and 400 marking assistants were appointed to assess the performance of the HKDSE candidates this year.
