Assessment Perspective: Open Day and Seminars

The annual Open day of the HKEAA will take place at Lai King Assessment Centre on 14 January 2017 and welcomes all visitors from 10am to 6pm.

With the theme ‘Assessment Perspective’ students and parents may attend seminar on the marking and grading of public examinations and gain hands-on experience of marking examination papers on-screen. Demonstration of the oral recording system will also be available.

Four seminars with the key purpose to strengthen students’ understanding of the HKDSE core subjects will be held on 21 January 2017 at Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School. Assessment Development managers will give talks on the assessment requirements of the core subjects, namely Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Liberal Studies.

2016 HKDSE QPs and sample of candidates' performance

The recently released Question Papers (QPs) for the 2016 HKDSE have been on sale since November. These question papers with marking schemes and examiners’ comments on candidates’ performance are useful references for students preparing for the examinations.

The HKEAA also compiles a selection of authentic answer scripts of candidates in the 2016 HKDSE to illustrate the performance at different levels. These exemplars are published on the HKEAA website to facilitate students, teachers and the public to understand the assessment requirements and standards of the HKDSE.

Introducing the Chinese Folk Dance Graded Examinations

The HKEAA is delighted to provide young dancers and adult dance enthusiasts another examination. Developed by the Chinese Folk Dance Grading HK Centre, the Chinese Folk Dance Graded Examinations (CFDGE) is approved by the Ministry of Culture of the Peoples’ Republic of China to award Grades 1 to 15 in Chinese folk dancing.

Starting from 2017, the examinations will be held in Hong Kong by the HKEAA in July/August and registration opens in April. For details, please visit the HKEAA website.

The 18th Academic Forum on English Language Testing in Asia

It was our sincere pleasure to be the host of the 18th Academic Forum on English Language Testing in Asia (AFELTA) in November 2016. The forum brought together academics, language educators and researchers from Korea, Japan, Singapore, as well as Taipei, Shanghai and Hong Kong where each one of them shed light with their results on research studies, their experiences and expertise in English Language testing.
