With ‘Assessing the achievement of curriculum standards – An ongoing dialogue’ as the main theme, this annual event brought together more than 360 academics, policymakers and researchers in educational assessment around the world. The HKEAA delegation shared the Hong Kong experience in innovations in assessment, as well as standards maintenance and quality assurance of the HKDSE during the six-day conference. The future of examinations and challenges in assessments are also discussed.

AFELTA in Hong Kong

The 18th Academic Forum on English Language Testing in Asia (AFELTA) will take place between 25 and 26 November in Hong Kong. The HKEAA is honoured to hold this event, where academics, educators and researchers in the region will gather and exchange ideas on English Language testing.

During this two-day event delegations from member organisations in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong will address the theme of ‘Social Aspects of English Language Testing’. They will also be presenting the results of their research studies and share their experiences and expertise in English Language assessment.

Founded in 1998, AFELTA serves as a platform for testing bodies in Asia to exchange English testing approaches.

This year we are delighted that Professor Yang Huizhong, former director of National College English Testing Committee (CET) from Shanghai will be one of the keynote speakers. Teachers and assessment experts are most welcome to join the seminar sessions. More details will be announced on the HKEAA website in October.
