Commencement of 2016 HKDSEWritten examinations of 24 HKDSE Category A subjects are scheduled to start in April, with more than 68,000 candidates entering the 2016 HKDSE at 397 school halls and 1,348 classrooms.About 85% of school candidates opted for two to three elective subjects plus the four core subjects. Economics still remains the most popular elective subject with about 17,000 entries, followed by Biology and Chemistry with around 15,000 to 16,000 candidates entering the examinations. More on-campus assessment centres openPui Ching Middle School in Ho Man Tin has now become host of our thirteenth on-campus assessment centre.The other 12 assessment centres are spread across the Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. Teachers, who serve as markers can now choose to mark the HKDSE scripts in any of these 13 locations. These assessment centres, including five purpose-built centres housing up to 1,500 workstations are open for onscreen marking during the examination cycle. The number of HKDSE scripts this year will be over one million copies and about 4,600 markers and 480 marking assistants are needed for this huge task. |
Enhancing understanding of public examinationsThe positive response of the book launch The Management of Public Examination: 101 questions and Answers took place in January has proven our understanding and vision of the Authority, that sharing knowledge and being transparent of information are paramount to serving the educational and societal needs of Hong Kong.The range of events including the assessment centre open days and information seminars followed by the book launch, received equal if not more acclaims for the Authority. About 700 students, parents and members of the public took part in these events in January.
