Appointments to the HKEAA

The Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) welcomes the Government’s reappointment of Mr Rock Chen Chung-nin as the Chairman and Ms Ruth Shek Yuk-yu as the Deputy Chairperson of the HKEAA. Another two re-appointed members are Mr Johnny Tsang Wing-keung and Dr Mak Chi-keung. Their new terms of appointment are effective from 1 September 2015.

'I am very honoured to be reappointed as the Chairman of the HKEAA and to have the opportunity again to serve the Council and the community. I am grateful for the dedication and professionalism of my team members as well as the support from the education sector and other partners. Despite the challenges ahead, I am confident that my colleagues will work with me hand in hand in delivering quality examination and assessment services to meet the needs of our stakeholders.' said Mr Chen.

While four new members, Mr Benjamin Ng Yau-keung, Prof Daniel Ho Wing-cheong, Ms Monica Cheng Wai-yee, and Mr Raymond Cheng, are joining us, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing members, Mr Patrick Chan Kwok-wai, Dr Esther Ho Yuk-fan, Prof Lee Hung-kai and Mr Daniel Wong Ip-cheung, for their contributions and dedication during their service with us.

Introducing the SSAT

The HKEAA has the privilege to offer the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) with the commission of the Secondary School Admission Test Board (SSATB) recently.

Registration for all the eight SSAT test sessions in 2015-16 has begun, and the first test session will be conducted on 17 October.

The SSAT is a standardised admission test, which is designed for middle and high school students (i.e.grade 5 to grade 12) who are seeking entrance to independent schools in the United States and Canada. The SSAT measures the basic verbal, quantitative, and reading skills students develop over time, which provides independent school admission professionals with meaningful information about the possible academic success of potential students at their institutions.
