Commencement of 2014 HKDSE Examination in Mid-March

The number of candidates registered for the third HKDSE Examination this year mounts up to 79,000 of which 84% are school candidates while the rest are private candidates.

Written examinations will commence on 1 April and the HKEAA has been doing all it can to support candidates to cope with this stressful time. It has updated the HKDSE mobile app and users can access the latest examination information at their fingertips. Short videos regarding examination regulations will be screened on RoadShow on buses around mid-March to the beginning of April. Candidates can also view these videos on the HKEAA website and the HKEAA Youtube Channel.

All candidates are advised to check the information on their admission forms carefully. In the event of queries and clarifications candidates are welcome to contact the Public Examinations Information Centre.

  Registration of HKDSE logo

To mark the launch of the HKDSE Examination the HKEAA developed a new logo for communications and publicity around the new qualification in 2011. To ensure appropriate use of the HKDSE logo for communication and to avoid any mishandling of the logo for other purposes we have recently registered it with the Trade Marks Registry of the HKSAR.

The HKEAA now has the exclusive right to the logo and any goods and services rendered under it. Anyone who wishes to use this logo in Hong Kong should seek our consent.

  Exam scripts scanning

After each examination session, scripts are collected from different examination centres for marking and grading. Each year more than 2 million scripts are scanned and processed before the digital copies are sent for onscreen marking. In the past this scanning process was outsourced. Starting from this year scanning process will be handled in-house to ensure better quality control and higher efficiency. For the 2014 examination cycle we will need an extra of 400 temporary staff to handle the scanning work. During peak period the scanning centre will operate 24 hours a day.
