| The HKEAA conducted a benchmarking study to compare the standards between the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the 2019 HKDSE English Language Examination. The tables below show the equivalent of Level 3 to Level 5** in HKDSE English Language with respect to the IELTS band scores. The results were developed based on a stratified sample of HKDSE 2019 candidates who voluntarily provided their IELTS results to the HKEAA for data analysis.
