Assessment Literacy Training
The Authority comprises a pool of experienced and well-trained examination administrative staff, experts in the development of assessments and provision of testing services as well as a strong research and development team, who are capable of developing and delivering a full range of examinations and assessment services.
We also provide training in examination administration, question paper setting, marking and grading, and standard setting and maintenance for other organisations. Prospective partners are welcome to approach us at info@hkeaa.edu.hk for collaboration or training services.

HKEAA Course in English Language Assessment 2024

Course Description: |
This course is specifically targeted at English Language secondary school teachers who are involved or who hope to be involved in the development, marking and grading of English Language examinations administered by the HKEAA. It would also be of interest to those who wish to apply the principles and practices of valid and reliable English Language testing to their own classroom context.
The course will be organized around key areas related to English Language testing. These will include the description of aspects of language, including grammar, lexis and discourse; as well as issues directly related to language testing. It aims to develop participants’ ability to design, help administer and critically evaluate tests of English Language – both those taken in Hong Kong and overseas.
Participants are expected to take part actively in discussions and contribute both to sessions and to an online forum. There will be some preparatory reading expected before every session. The sessions will be a combination of seminar discussions; presentations; and hands-on work, including working with the HKEAA’s own online Assessment Quality-assurance Platform (AQP).

Assignment: |
Participants are required to submit an assignment related to a classroom based assessment project. Participants are required to reach a pass to complete the course. Distinction will be awarded to assignments of high quality. |

Participants who complete the course will be given a certificate issued by the HKEAA.

Selection of applicants for the course will be made based on which applicants’ participation is most likely to contribute to the overall success of the course. Priority will be given to teachers with experience in the examination processes at the HKEAA.
