    Examination Regulations and Syllabuses

Applicants and candidates should observe the most updated information and regulations on ABRSM’s website: https://www.abrsm.org/en-hk/about-our-exams/exam-regulations
Diploma Examination Syllabuses are available from the ABRSM website:
    https://www.abrsm.org/en-hk/about-our-exams/syllabuses

    General
No one is allowed to listen outside the examination room, nor to remain near the door except the waiting room supervisors or other ABRSM representatives. Candidates may not bring any unauthorised material or equipment into the examination room. Any candidates infringing this rule may be disqualified.

    Interpreter Service
Exams will be conducted in English. From 1 January 2023, candidates who need an interpreter must arrange this themselves, following ABRSM Interpreter Guidelines. Neither ABRSM nor HKEAA will be involved in any arrangements with interpreters, nor any payment.

    Photocopies
On the day of exam, candidates will need to provide the examiners with copies of all the music they are performing, ideally in the same editions as those being performed (for pieces which are accompanied by piano, a copy of the piano score should be supplied). If photocopies are to be used for this purpose, it is the candidate's responsibility to obtain written permission from the publisher/copyright holder. In the UK, certain publishers allow photocopies to be made for the examiner's use - for full details, see the MPA's Code of Fair Practice at www.mpaonline.org.uk.

    Accompanists and Page-Turners
Regarding the arrangement of accompanists and page-turners, candidates can refer to the ABRSM syllabus and qualification specifications of the corresponding diplomas in Performance, Teaching and Directing for details.

    Stringed & wind instruments
Candidates examined in stringed or wind instruments are reminded that their instruments need to be tuned to the piano in the examination room immediately before the examination. The examiner should not be expected to help with the tuning.

    Bulky Instruments
Private Visits will not be available for the July to August 2023 Diploma examinations in Hong Kong. The following subjects involving bulky instruments will therefore not be offered in the registration period.

    Organ  Harpsichord  Percussion
