To view the group interaction from Tsang Shiu Tim Secondary School.
Comment:
This is an interesting group interaction in which overall, there is quite a natural interaction between the group members. The voice projection of everyone in the group is adequate for all members to hear each other clearly. The group interaction is notable for the absence (minimal use) of formulaic language / phrases, and the lack of reliance on written notes or rehearsed material.

Keith (boy on far left)
Keith's pronunciation has a slight 'thickness' that makes some sounds slightly fuzzy, and his intonation is slightly erratic. His pacing, however, is good. His communication strategies are very strong: his body language both displays and encourages interest, and he uses a full range of turn-taking strategies to initiate and maintain the conversation. His command of vocabulary and language patterns is quite varied and accurate. Keith contributes more and performs better from about halfway through the interaction, bringing in good ideas which encourage the group interaction. It is likely that this student will continue to develop in all areas in the coming year.

Henry (second from left)
Henry's pronunciation and delivery is very clear and fluent. His pacing is slightly unnatural to begin with but improves over the course of the interaction. He has good communication strategies, although he could do more to draw others into the interaction and maintain the conversation.  He has a wide vocabulary and his language patterns are  varied and accurately used. In terms of ideas and organisation, he can express his own ideas clearly and fluently, but he is a little stilted when attempting to respond to the ideas of others. He wraps up the interaction nicely with a 'recap' towards the end of the interaction.

Jesi (the girl)
Although she is paying good attention, Jesi seems to be having some trouble keeping up with the conversation and her contribution doesn't always fit the flow of the interaction. Her pronunciation is usually understandable; she generally speaks accurately, but her language stays quite simple, and her oral contribution is fairly limited, so we are not quite sure how varied her active vocabulary really is. Her body language is natural and her participation, while a bit limited, is appropriate. She does contribute an original idea, but it could be better developed or expanded. Overall, Jesi has a solid foundation and because she is not dependent on notes and has some self-confidence, we can expect her to make progress in all domains during F5.

Warren (Boy on far right)
Warren's pronunciation is clear and easy to understand, with few errors in sounds / sound clusters. His communication strategies are also quite strong: he appears very involved in the conversation and uses good body language. His vocabulary and language patterns are accurate, though limited in variation. He expresses his ideas clearly and fluently, making a good suggestion with good expansion.  However, Warren doesn’t say a great deal; his teacher would want more language from him in order to know whether his speaking ability is better than it seems in this small sample.
